Mcebisi Jonas
Mcebisi Jonas is the Executive Chairman of Ntiso Investment Holdings, a private investment holding company he founded in 2019 with current investments in Energy, Logistics, Financial Services and the Industrial sectors. He is also a director of Khwela Capital, a private global investment company.
Mcebisi serves as Chairperson of both the Board of MTN Group and Northam Platinum Holdings and serves as non-executive director of The Nimble Group and Harambee, amongst others. On 14 April 2025, Mcebisi was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa as his Special Envoy dealing with trade. Mcebisi previously served as a Presidential Economic Envoy to support the government in its efforts to attract USD100 billion in direct investment into South Africa.
He served as Deputy Minister of Finance and a Member of Parliament for the Republic of South Africa from 2014 to 2017. During this time, he helped steer South Africa’s economy through what was considered one of the country’s most difficult post-democratic periods. He also served as Chairperson and Non-Executive Director of the Public Investment Corporation, the state-owned pension fund manager and one of Africa’s largest investment managers with over ZAR2 Trillian under management.
Before his appointment to national government, Mcebisi played a key political leadership role in the Eastern Cape where he served in several key provincial ministerial positions, including Finance, Economic Affairs and Tourism. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), a state-owned entity, which successfully amalgamated various smaller development institutions, where he played a key role in developing the investment agenda for the province, which resulted in the establishment of, the Coega Industrial Development Zone and the East London Industrial Development Zone amongst others.
Vuslat Bayoglu is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Menar, a diversified South African company with an actively managed and growing portfolio of minerals, energy and logistics. The company has controlling stakes in Canyon Coal, Zululand Anthracite Colliery (ZAC), Kangra and East Manganese. Its operational footprint spans across KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and the Northern Cape.
Bayoglu holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. With a keen eye for value-creation opportunities, Bayoglu was able to lead Menar’s subsidiaries from junior to mid-tier status through organic growth and acquisitions. He has played an integral role in the development of multiple mines, including Hakhano, Singani, Khanye, East Manganese, Phalanndwa and Gugulethu Colliery. Bayoglu also led the expansion of Kangra Colliery through the Kusipongo reserve, which has extended the mine’s life by more than 20 years. The Zululand Anthracite Colliery operations also advanced through the development of two shafts, including Mngeni and MayeB, following the mine’s acquisition by Menar.
Bayoglu is a hands-on investor with a keen interest in bettering the South African economy. He is actively involved in seeking solutions to key issues faced by South Africa. Bayoglu also serves on the board of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT). An optimist on South Africa's investment outlook, Bayoglu regularly participates in conferences where he advocates for why companies should invest in South Africa.
