PROCESS SPECIALIST/ENGINEER – FURNACE OPERATION
4 month Fixed term contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer/Specialist with experience in industrial furnace
systems to assist during two major technical evaluations to be conducted. The successful
candidate would need to have had operational experience at the Khwelamet smelter to be
considered for the role.
Key Responsibilities
Furnace Refurbishment study:
Compile and provide information and data (including, but not limited to, process and material flow, material balances, technical data and drawings, etc) required as part of furnace refurbishment evaluation.
Liaise and interact with furnace OEM’s on specific furnace and auxiliary production equipment status and condition to
jointly assess refurbishment requirement (including in-field verification/assessment).
Collaborate with other stakeholders such as maintenance, project department, OEMs and other experts as part of the study.
Provide input on startup and commissioning plans for furnace and supporting plant equipment.
Furnace Process (metallurgical) study:
Compile and provide all relevant data that may be required for the
study purpose.
Identify and evaluate historical operational data to support study.
Provide process parameters, relevant standard operating procedures
(SOPs), and work instructions as may be required.
Other related activities, as may be deemed necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or
related field.
10+ years of experience in furnace operations or pyro metallurgical
operations.
Strong understanding of furnace sub/auxiliary systems such as furnace gas
abatement equipment, electrode management, furnace related refractories.
Understanding of and experience in furnace lining management.
Basic familiarity with process control systems (PLC/SCADA) and
instrumentation.
Experience in ferroalloy industries is required, and more specifically for ferro
manganese production.

Process knowledge and understanding of equipment dependencies.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols is mandatory.
